Tractors are very distinctive, common farm vehicles, most are designed with two great big driving wheels situated below the driver’s seat and have the engine at the front of the vehicle, with two smaller steerable wheels at the front below the engine. In the US, where soli conditions allowed, these steam tractors were often used to directly haul ploughs, however in places such as the UK, soil conditions did not permit and so the tractors were used for cable haul ploughing only.

These tractors engines continued to be popular and used well into the 20^th century, until that is more reliable combustion engines were designed and put on the market. The more popular an item becomes, often the more expensive it becomes and this was no different. When they first came in to production they were unpopular machines, but that view was soon changed when people realised that they were not only cheaper but also much smaller and easier to control. Tractors can have a very long life provided their parts are kept up to date and taken care of.
